Message	LOL It's impossible for us to determine what that amount of fluid is from those descriptions. :-) Fill the transmission until the fluid meets the height of the fill hole and drips out a little. That will ensure it's filled to the proper level. If your car is level, it's pretty hard to overfill it as it will run out the fill hole if it gets too much. The grinding you had could have been because the fluid was too low.
